Final Fantasy XIII Update
New details on FFXIII and Versus
In the main FFXIII game, the world is split into two parts: Cocoon and Pulse. Cocoon is a space colony that houses a few million people. Pulse is everything outside of it.

For the people of Cocoon, Pulse is a frightening place. Those who come into contact with it are believed to be elements of a plot to invade Cocoon and are banished from the protections of the Cocoon realm by the "holy" government and its army. The original E3 trailer depicted a group of people who seemed to be confined on a train. These people had come into contact with Pulse and were being quarantined.

Cocoon is protected by crystals. This may not necessarily be the case for the rest of the games in the Fabula Nova Crystalis series, but the crystals in FFXIII are more than just shiny stones with magic abilities. They have the ability to create real life objects. They make life easy for people in Cocoon by creating machines and living creatures.

The relationship between Cocoon and Pulse can be thought of as this, according to director Motome Toriyama. First, there was Pulse, a dangerous world where people reside under the fear of monster attack. Cocoon was made when the crystals considered what would be an appropriate living space for people forced to reside in the world of Pulse.

Не факт. Судя по опыту прошлых лет, держа в памяти раскрутку других игр серии Final Fantasy, и таки надеясь на то, что Мотому Торияма в январе не набрехал журналистам с три короба - история того же Кодзимы и "не очень верных трактовок" его реплик в прессе по поводу качества MGS4 еще свежа, - у обывателя в запасе еще есть время до знакомства с (публичной?) демо-версией FFXIII. И как бы это не случилось в аккурат на TGS08. Ведь, если не ошибаюсь, на своих PP Square-Enix не устанавливает юниты с играбельными версиями демонстрируемых проектов.

An EA employee over on the Neogaf forums are reporting a number of rumors regarding Final Fantasy XIII. EA and Square Enix have a good relationship so chances are these rumors are true. Final Fantasy XIII Versus has been rumoured to be put on hold, maybe the following rumors are true to put FFXIII into full production.

Final Fantasy XIII will apprently be released in Japan December 2008. Also there could be a playable demo at this years TGS.
“FF13 this December in japan.”
“Mark my words. FF13 this December in japan. Playable demo this year at TGS(which I am going too) and playable demo for japan right before release.”
“This game will not have a WW release due to localization issues. It will hit japan first then NA/ EU the following year but within the fiscal.”
“It could but the impact of the game will not be as huge. The game must hit japan this xmas to keep the current interest in Japan. This is the reason why SE will own this TGS.”

This is pretty exciting news for us Playstation 3 owners and RPG lovers. I hope all this is true.
