Assault Rifles

AN-94
The Russian-built AN-94 is an advanced assault rifle which stands for "Avtomat Nikonova model of 1994." Designed to replace the old AK-74M, the AN-94 is set to become the general issue rifle for the armed forces of the Russian Federation in the near future.
The AN-94 offers a unique two-shot burst function that can fire up to 1800 rounds per minute. The unique mechanism within the rifle fires a second shot in the burst quick enough that it escapes the recoil of the first shot, potentially allowing each burst to hit a target twice in the same location.

XM8
The XM8 project may have been scrapped in real life but that doesn't mean you won't have a chance to use it in Black Ops 2. This lightweight assault rifle was in development at arms manufacturer Heckler & Koch in the early 21st century, and was designed to replace the aging M4.
Despite its cancellation in real life, production has apparently resumed in full force for the army of the future. A variant of the weapon can be seen cradled in the arms of Alex Mason, Black Ops 2's protagonist.

M16
The M16 is an assault rifle which, despite its age, has yet to outlive its usefulness. This iconic American gun will be in its prime as its used throughout the chapters of Black Ops 2 set in the 1980s.
The weapon served the US army faithfully in the Vietnam War, becoming the US military's standard service rifle by 1969, replacing the now obsolete M14 in its role. Since then, it's seen three major upgrades (up to the M16A4 designation).
The M16 offers semi-automatic, three-round burst, and full automatic fire. It can also be equipped with a variety of attachments, most notably the OKC-3S bayonet, and the M203 40mm grenade launcher, which is also seen on the newer M4 carbine.

FN SCAR
While you might be tempted to call it the 'effin scar', the FN SCAR (the FN's short for Fabrique Nationale) is one of the weapons which took part in a competition by the US military in search of a "future needs" weapon for its SOCOM division. These highly modular assault rifles are particularly resistant to dust, not that it would matter in any videogame.
The weapon comes in two variants, light (SCAR-L) and heavy (SCAR-H), both of which fulfill multipurpose roles in the battlefield of the future.

M4A1
Seen on the marketing poster for Black Ops 2, the M4A1 is the fully automated variant of the M4, and is intended for special operations use. It's used by almost every US special operations unit, including the Army Rangers, Navy SEALS, and Air Force CCTs.
Due to its compactness and stopping power, it's highly favored by counter-terrorist and special forces units to use in close quarters combat.

Sub-Machine Guns

MP7
The MP7 is a compact submachine gun developed and manufactured by German arms company Heckler & Koch. Chambered with a small, 4.6x30mm cartridge, the relatively new weapon fits all the requirements for a personal defense weapon (PDW) class firearm, offering good penetrative abilities to defeat body armor than any weapons limited to conventional pistol cartridges.
It's small, it's quiet, and it packs one hell of a punch.

Light Machine Guns

M249 SAW
This light machine gun is designed to fulfill support roles for the squad (hence the SAW, which stands for Squad Automatic Weapon). Developed by FN, the M249 is in wide use by the US military, having replaced the much older workhorse M60 LMG way back in 1984.
The M249 offers small squads with the ability to lay down heavy fire in the midst of combat situations. In addition to its heavy firepower, it offers accuracy and portability approaching that of a rifle, making it a good all-purpose weapon on the field.

Pistols

Kriss Kard
The oddly named Kriss Kard is one of a new generation of weapons that use a fixed barrel instead of a tilting barrel system used in conventional handguns. I'll save you the technical details. It's a handgun that looks like the Magnum out of Unreal.

M1911
The M1911 is one of the oldest and most reliable service weapons. It's been in service since its inception in 1911 and continues to enjoy widespread use in the armed forces despite its age.
The handgun is a single-action, semi-automatic, magazine-fed and recoil-operated handgun chambered to .45 which offers it tremendous stopping power.
