Nintendo Reaches Biggest Profit Since 2001 [ Reuters ]
Nintendo has stated that it has likely beat its annual profit prediction for the 2005/2006 fiscal year, thanks to strong sales and a weak yen. The company announced that Nintendo's profit prediction has jumped a whopping 27 percent from original forecast of a profit of 75 billion yen, but it now estimates that it has achieved a net profit of 95 billion yen ($806.9 million). The reasons for the huge profit increase are due to the incredibly strong sales of the Nintendo DS, as well as favorable exchange rates. It's also worth noting that this would be the largest profit Nintendo has ever accumulated in a single fiscal year since the 2001/2002 fiscal year, which saw the release of the Game Boy Advance and the GameCube.
